I think the idea of getting 10,000 steps a day is for people who do not work out.

If I work out an hour a day, for example, how can I spend another 2-3 hours getting 10k steps??

Exercises like bodyweight circuits, weights, and yoga do not increase my step count!

So now my new routine is to ignore steps and simply continue working out.

As a matter of fact, I am toning down my workouts. Instead of working out for 6-7 hours a week, I will lower it down to about 3.5 hours a week.

This will include the recommended minimum of 150 minutes per week at moderate intensity cardio and 2-3 sessions of strength training, in the form of bodyweight exercises. I could fit all this into 3 days a week.

I will add Qigong and stretches on the other days to stay active and recuperate. Some regular walking too (steps).

Right now I am thinking one day off a week of doing nothing.

I am still a beginner at workouts after-all, or maybe at an intermediate level now.

As my fitness improves, I will look into adding more time and effort, ala The Rock, Arnold, MJ, and other athletes.
